'We're in the longest recession per head in our lifetime in 70 years'

Hello and welcome to this week's Britain's Favorite Sunday Sermon. Well, that was it. It was budget week. All the excitement, all the noise. But afterwards, how excited really were you?

Now let's just go back a year, shall we? To the budget in March 2023...

The chancellor, the same Jeremy Hunt, he stood up and he said it was a budget for growth. He also said a year ago that this great thing that we must all sort of bow down to the Office for Budget Responsibility, they promised us this time last year that there would not be a technical recession, and the chancellor was excited by that.

Well, here we are a year later and guess what? Yes, the economy is in recession. That's been confirmed.
