The warnings are in place all across the UK, ranging from Scotland to southern England

The Met Office has issued four separate snow, rain and wind warnings for today as the UK is battered with stormy weather during the festive period.

The warnings are in place all across the UK, ranging from Scotland to southern England.

The Met Office alerts come are in place for December 27, with one of the warnings beginning at 0.00am and lasting until 11.59pm.

The rain and snow warning is in place in parts of Scotland, and the weather office warns that "heavy rain and snow will result in some disruption".

The Met Office said: "A band of heavy rain and hill snow will move northeast across Scotland on Wednesday. At low elevations (roughly below 200 metres) this will fall as rain, with 20-30 mm developing quite widely across the warning area, with a risk of up to 50 mm in some locations.

"At higher elevations (roughly above 200 metres) snow is expected, with 10-15cm likely to accumulate, particularly on southeast-facing hills and will affect some higher transport routes. Very strong southeasterly winds will accompany the rain and snow and exacerbate any impacts."

The weather office said that there is a small chance that power cuts could occur as a result of the heavy rain and snow.

Homes and businesses could be flooded, and more rural communities could be cut off.
