US snow warning: America to be blasted by 1,000 mile SNOW BELT as temperatures drop to -15C
WX Charts
Millions of Americans will go cold turkey for Thanksgiving as a 1,000-mile snow belt pushes temperatures to -15C.
A giant storm will drag an icy tail across the United States dumping up to two feet of snow in parts over the coming days.
Temperatures will nosedive as the low-pressure system responsible for the getaway chaos makes its parting shot pulling bitter cold air in from the Arctic.
Utah, Colarado, Idaho, Kansas, Wyoming, Nebraska and parts of New Mexico are braced for snow ahead of the weekend.
A separate storm system whipping up the northwest could bring a flurry for Thanksgiving itself, according to The Weather Channel.

Weather Channel meteorologist Ari Sarsalari said: “On Thanksgiving, a storm system enters the central and northern Rockies and we are going to have snow around parts of Idaho, Wyoming, and that’s going to spread a little bit farther towards the east on Friday, even into parts of the Plains and parts of Nebraska and Kansas.
“Colorado will get some snow as well and eventually that drifts down into the southern Plains with a few showers in parts of Texas.”
Eastern regions including New England, New York and the Great Lakes could also see a flurry at the weekend, he added
He said: “The Eastern Seaboard looks pretty good until we get to Sunday.
“Sunday will have at least a couple of snow showers going on along parts of the Great Lakes and the interior northeast.”
Weather maps turn from blue to purple as snow builds up, particularly around western regions where up to two feet could settle.

Temperatures will plumet to -15C in the far northeast with the icy blast to stretch as far south as Las Vegas, Dallas, and Georgia.
The cold weather will follow in the wake of a Thanksgiving storm which sparked getaway chaos earlier in the week.
Cold air from the north will shove out milder southerly air bringing colder conditions widely across the US.
Jim Dale, US weather correspondent and meteorologist for British Weather Services, said: “There is a cold spell coming out of the Rockies later in the week, after the more unsettled weather in the run up to Thanksgiving.

“This is being pulled in behind a significant storm system that was responsible for the wet and windy conditions earlier in the week.
“There is likely to be snow around the Great Lakes, swept in on the back of the cold air coming in from the north.
“After a brief respite from the stormier conditions earlier in the week, now we are expecting to see a change to much colder conditions.”
A spokesman for the US National Weather Service (NOAA) said: “A snow event is brewing over the northern Rockies.
“Rain associated with a frontal system currently moving onshore into the Pacific
"Northwest is forecast to merge with a surge of Arctic air down the Canadian high plains.
“The result of this interaction will be a developing and expanding area of snow over Idaho to western Montana, then spreading south-eastward into much of Wyoming and portions of the Great Basin on Thanksgiving Day.”
