The UK's national weather service warns thunderstorms and downpours could hit part of the country
The Met Office has issued another yellow weather warning as thunderstorms look set to batter the South West of England later today.
Thunderstorms will hit Cornwall and Devon from 1pm to 9pm, with travel disruption possible.
"While many places will see only small amounts of rain or remain dry, scattered showers are likely to become slow-moving and heavy from early this afternoon," the Met Office said.
"Some torrential downpours are possible, bringing the risk of 15-30 mm of rain in an hour, and as much as 40-60 mm in several hours for a few sites in the warning area. Hail and lightning may be additional hazards."
Yellow weather warnings will be in place
GETTY/MET OFFICE/WXCHARTSThere is also a risk of spray and sudden flooding, communities being cut off, lightning strikes and power cuts.
The warning added: "There is a small chance of fast flowing or deep floodwater causing danger to life."
Despite the warning England's Environment Agency only issued one flood alert as of 9.30am this morning.
The alert, which means flooding is possible, covers Lower River Colne & Frays River.
LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:Damp and cold weather has raised concern about whether summer has already been and gone.
However, in a fresh boost to Britons, the Met Office hopes for the return of "above average" temperatures in just a few weeks' time.
Looking ahead to the weather between July 26 and August 9, the Met Office said: “There remain encouraging signs of a more settled spell developing at some point during the period, at least for a time, and perhaps more likely in the south.
“However, by the same token further, perhaps shorter, unsettled interludes are likely too, and confidence in the broad weather patterns during this period is much lower than average.

NETWEATHER
“Above average temperatures overall, and drier than average conditions overall, are slightly favoured.”
Forecasters at NetWeather suggested much of England could see mercury stabilise above 20C on July 27.
However, Britons must put up with far from summery conditions for a little bit longer.
"A mostly cloudy day, but there will be some glimmers of sunshine from time to time," today's Met Office forecast said.
"Outbreaks of rain possible, most likely across northern Scotland and eastern parts of England. Heavy thundery showers also developing across southwest England. Staying cool."
