The Met Office has warned the UK will face "substantial" snowfall as temperatures tumble to as low as -11C.
A "resurgence in really cold weather through the weekend" is expected as the mercury dropped to -5C in Hampshire and -4C in Suffolk earlier this morning.
Tyndrum witnessed the coldest temperatures yesterday, with the Scottish village seeing lows of -7C.

The UK's national weather service said a "more northerly wind" and "Arctic influence" is expected to descend over the UK on Sunday, dragging temperatures down.
Deputy chief forecaster Tony Wardle said: "There is the potential for some disruptive snow through the middle to latter part of next week as warmer Atlantic air attempts to push in from the southwest.
"As this occurs, some substantial snow could fall in some places, but the details of that are uncertain at the moment."
However, there is a chance temperatures could become milder midway through next week.

Temperatures have been plummeting over the past few days, with Aviemore dropping to as low as -11.1C on Tuesday.
The Met Office confirmed mercury in the Highlands earlier this week was not the coldest night this winter so far.
Altnaharra, also in Scotland, recorded -12.5C on December 3.
Discussing the drop in mercury, Met Office head of situational awareness Will Lang added: "There will be a resurgence in the really cold weather through the weekend and that spreads across the whole of the UK during the early part of next week.

"Initially, this means there will be more in the way of showers around the coasts, turning increasingly to snow for many areas, especially further north."
Weather forecasting website WXCHARTS appears to agree with the Met Office's bleak forecast.
It predicts temperatures could drop to as low as -11C in Scotland next Wednesday, with mercury dropping just below freezing in Northern Ireland.
England and Wales will likely experience somewhat milder temperatures than Scotland but still see mercury drop below 0C.
