UK hot weather: Britain set for post 'cold snap' surge after -4C weekend

Britain looks set to endure a temperature surge just days after temperatures plummet to as low as -4C.
Snow is possible in places over the weekend and some Britons will witness torrential downpours today.
However, weather charts have suggested a change in pressure and wind direction could allow for bright sunshine and calmer conditions.
Temperatures will continue to creep up next week and could peak in the high teens on Friday.

The south coast could see mercury reach as high as 18C, NetWeather has claimed.
Temperatures across England are Wales are expected to hover around the mid-to-high teens but Scotland will experience colder conditions.
Confirming warmer conditions are on the way, the Met Office said: "Temperatures will probably return closer to average, perhaps warm in places, and there will likely be a fine and dry interlude where high pressure dominates."
Oli Claydon, a spokesman at the UK’s national weather service, told The Mirror: "There will be widespread frost on Saturday night and into Sunday across the UK.

"We could see the first signs of winter on higher ground on Saturday afternoon across Scotland.
"There will be sleety showers, which could become snow on mountains."
He added: "It is the first sign of winter but Scotland experienced cold and wet weather last weekend, with flooding in places, so the change in temperature won't be too dramatic, unlike in the south of England for instance.
"There will be lows of 0C on Saturday night in rural parts of the UK, and perhaps -4C in rural parts of Scotland on Saturday night.
"So there will be a fresher and cooler feel on Saturday and Sunday across the UK.

The Met Office has also issued a yellow rain warning ahead of the weekend.
The warning, which was issued for 9pm last night and will last until 8pm today, covers large swathes of England and Wales.
"Outbreaks of rain continuing to affect parts of England and Wales before clearing from the northwest during the afternoon and early evening," the Met Office said.
"A further 10 to 20 mm is likely, with up to 30 mm possible in one or two spots. This may lead to some flooding and disruption."
