UK cold weather: Freezing fog to engulf Britain as country to be lashed with -8C ice bomb

It comes as the cold health alert has risen to amber
The UK is set to be hit with freezing fog this week as temperatures are set to plummet.
The alert came into place at 6pm on Tuesday November 28 and is expected to last to midday on Tuesday December 5.
Running up to the weekend, frost and wintry showers are expected to hit.
A Met Office spokesperson said: "Frost is developing through Wednesday evening, becoming widespread overnight.
"[There will be] icy stretches where snow showers continue with further patchy rain across the southwest of England, turning to snow over the Moors."
Thursday is set to remain cold with snow falling across the Moors in the southwest and wintry showers in coastal areas.

Into the weekend, it is set to remain cold on Friday with wintry showers and patches of freezing fog.
According to the Met Office outlook for Friday to Sunday, there is set to be some sunny spells on Saturday and some wintry showers, mainly towards coastal areas.
It states: "Staying cold throughout this period, with sunny spells and some wintry showers, mainly towards coastal areas.
"Widespread overnight frosts and some freezing fog patches."

Most of the wintry showers are forecast in north facing coastal spots.
A Met Office spokesperson said: "By the end of the coming week milder conditions are expected to develop with cloudier and windier spells bringing outbreaks of rain as the UK enters a more mild regime.
"There remains a possibility of further more settled spells with potential for temperatures to fall again with frosts and fog patches.
"But these limited to a day or two before further areas of rainfall likely move through.
