Duke McKenzie has criticised the new-trend of YouTube and MMA fighters switching to the boxing ring.
Speaking to GB News, retired fighter McKenzie also said the recent fight between Anthony Joshua and Francis Ngannou could have ended in tragedy.
He told Lee Anderson: “We think probably commercially it's great for the sport because it brings a whole new audience. However, as we’ve seen with the recent Anthony Joshua fight he should never have been in there with Joshua. He could have got seriously hurt and that tarnishes the sport. You know, I mean, Joshua invited him to lift his chin up and took a posture and actually destroyed him.
“You know, I mean, he could have got very, very seriously hurt. It was a bad knock out. But I'm sure if you put me against the guy there even at the age of 60 years of age, I’d pretty much do the same thing.
“I mean, listen, there's this reason boxers box, And MMA guys do their chosen profession. They got to stay in their lane and boxers should stay in their lane.”
