Wizz Air, easyJet and Ryanair share important advice for anyone flying with the airlines

Airlines and airports are among the many businesses that have been hit by global IT outages.

Wizz Air has given advice for holidaymakers looking to jet off as some services are currently not available. Ryanair and easyJet have also made statements on how this could impact travellers.

Wizz Air states: "Potential disruptions are expected due to ongoing 3rd party global IT system outage. Like all airlines today, Wizz Air is facing extreme technical challenges with the outage of 3rd party global IT systems.

"Wizz Air customers may experience disruptions across the network with website and mobile application services temporarily unavailable."

Customers are currently not able to use the Wizz Air website and mobile app, the booking system, the online check-in system or display their boarding passes digitally.

Contact centres are also affected which means customers cannot make new reservations or change existing ones.

All airlines have advised holidaymakers to be aware of the outages and give themselves extra time if travelling today.

Wizz Air urged them to get to airports earlier than usual and explained they will be able to check-in at airports for free as they cannot do so online.

The airline continued: "During the outage, free airport check-in is available.

"Therefore, we advise passengers to arrive at the airport at least three hours before their scheduled departure time to allow sufficient time for check-in, security control, and airport-specific health and safety procedures.

"We thank you for your understanding as we deal with the effects of the global IT systems outage. The Wizz Air team is doing everything possible to minimise disruption to our customers."

Budget airline easyJet also spoke out. It said: "The global Microsoft IT outage is causing longer than usual customer service centre wait times and responses. We recommend that if you’d like to make changes to your booking, please go to Manage Bookings.

"We advise all customers due to fly with us to check the status of their flights on Flight Tracker at www.easyjet.com/en/flight-tracker for real-time information and to expect longer than usual queues at airports. Customers who are currently at the airport should continue to follow the information provided by Ground Crew.

"While these circumstances are outside of our control, we are sorry for any difficulty or inconvenience caused by this and we would like to reassure you that we are doing everything possible to minimise the impact of the disruption."

Ryanair also shared similar advice and urged customers to head to airports early as flights may be disrupted by the outages.
