Britons looking for a pretty walk in the UK should head to north Devon

The weather is finally warming up (slightly) and many Britons will be keen to spend upcoming weekends exploring all the beauty the UK has to offer.

When the weather is dry, there is not much more enjoyable than a meander through a picturesque area.

For those who like the sea, Holiday Cottages has comprised a list of the "top Great British coastal walks".

Here, travel experts awarded Lynton to Valley of Rocks to Woody Bay the top spot.

The experts said: "Visit the glorious Valley of Rocks by walking the South West Coast Path for around a mile from the delightful North Devon town of Lynton.

"You’ll be rewarded with fabulous views of the Exmoor coastline, and you can glimpse the South Wales coast across the Bristol Channel."

For enthusiast walkers who want to add a little more to their stroll, the experts recommended heading to Woody Bay. This adds around 1.5 miles to the stroll and is "well worth it".

One visitor to Woody Bay called it "a gem of a place nestled in ancient woodland and stunning scenery" on Tripadvisor.

Britons could tie in their North Devon walk with a weekend staycation. Staycations were extremely common during the Covid pandemic but they have remained popular due to their cost-effectiveness and general convenience.

Lynton is home to Lyn & Exmoor Museum, Hollerday House and Robber's Bridge. Those staying for a few days can explore North Devon more widely, checking out major attractions such as Exmoor Zoo, Hartland Abbey & Gardens, and for a small fee of £8.75 per adult ticket, privately owned Clovelly.

Speaking about the fishing village Clovelly, Visit Devon said: "Welcome to a different world.

"The picturesque, ancient, fishing village of Clovelly is uniquely special and was once owned by the Queen of England. Clovelly offers breathtaking scenery and lengthy walks along the cliff tops."

Another incredible UK walk has been named as "serene and soothing". Travel experts urge walking enthusiasts to try the delicious slow food in the area too.
