Here, Britons are given guidance on extreme weather and natural disasters, including wildfires.
Wildfires
Holidaymakers were warned: "Wildfires can start anywhere in Portugal. The risk of fires is higher when the weather is hot and dry.
"Fires have become more common due to drought and high temperatures during the summer months.
"Wildfires are highly dangerous and unpredictable. The Portuguese authorities may evacuate areas and close roads for safety reasons."
Britons were advised to take three key steps to stay safe. Holidaymakers should familiarise themselves with local safety and emergency procedures, follow the advice of the Portuguese authorities and call the emergency services on 112 if they see a wildfire.
