Britons given Germany travel warning over 'serious and critical' natural disaster - 'This has never happened before'
Britons were given fresh guidance regarding holidays in Germany

Britons heading to Germany have been issued a "natural disaster" warning.
The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) shared: "Floods are affecting some parts of Germany, particularly in Bavaria and Baden Wurttemberg.
"Follow the advice of the local authorities, as well as the German Met Office, and be sure to check your transport plans before you travel."
Five people have been confirmed dead as a result of the flooding. One of the worst-hit towns in Bavaria was Manching, which saw the evacuation of around 800 people after a nearby dam burst.
As a result of the flooding, Britons have been advised to 'follow the advice of the local authorities and the German Met Office'

Minister President of Bavaria Markus Söder said: "Events are happening here that have never happened before." He also described the situation as "serious and critical".
This comes as states of emergency were declared by districts across Bavaria.
Britons going abroad should also keep up to date with and heed travel advice. Britons were warned to "stay away" from part of Iceland as it's gripped by volcanic eruptions.
The FCDO advised holidaymakers in Germany: "No travel can be guaranteed safe. Read all the advice in this guide and any specific travel advice that applies to you: women travellers, disabled travellers, LGBT+ travellers, solo and independent travel, and volunteering and adventure travel.
"If you choose to travel, research your destinations and get appropriate travel insurance. Insurance should cover your itinerary, planned activities and expenses in an emergency.
"The Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) provides advice about risks of travel to help British nationals make informed decisions. Find out more about FCDO travel advice.

Britons should consult Government advice on entry requirements, safety and security, Euro 2024, health and getting help in the event of an emergency.
Britons were warned: "Germany follows Schengen area rules." Your passport must:
- Have a 'date of issue' less than 10 years before the date you arrive - if you renewed your passport before October 1, 2018, it may have a date of issue that is more than 10 years ago
- Have an ‘expiry date’ at least three months after the day you plan to leave the Schengen area
The FCDO advised: "Check with your travel provider that your passport and other travel documents meet requirements. Renew your passport if you need to.

"You will be denied entry if you do not have a valid travel document or try to use a passport that has been reported lost or stolen.
"If you have a residence permit, you must have a valid passport for the duration of your stay. Renew it before the expiry date."
Tourists were told they must renew their passport or apply for an emergency travel document.
