The Croatian island of Hvar has implemented stricter dress codes for tourists, joining countries like Mexico, India, and Spain in regulating visitor attire.
Tourists now face substantial fines for wearing inappropriate clothing in public spaces, at religious sites, and in historical landmarks.
Those caught wearing swimwear outside designated beach areas could face penalties of up to €600 (£515).
Additionally, visitors spotted walking around shirtless or in overly revealing clothing in Hvar's town centre risk an on-the-spot fine of €500 (£429).

Commercial director at Good Travel Management Laura Busby offered practical advice for visitors to Croatia.
She said: "Research any landmarks or local attractions and their dress codes before your visit, so you are not caught off guard."
Laura recommended carrying a scarf, shawl or long-sleeved jacket when out exploring, in case of spontaneous visits to cultural sites. Some destinations may require long skirts or trousers for entry.
Tourists should note that swimwear should be kept confined to beach areas and resorts to respect local norms.
Laura also advised doing thorough research about local customs, traditions, and cultural norms before your trip to navigate smoothly without risking offence.
She added: "Keep an eye on how locals behave in different situations and environments, like cafes, restaurants and tourist sites. Mirror their actions where possible, to show your respect for their values."
Trying to learn a few phrases in the local language before your visit can significantly benefit you during your holiday.
Laura's final tip noted: "Respect the environment and local communities. Dispose of waste properly and don't damage cultural or natural attractions."

New data showed Spain is no longer the most sought-after destination for UK holidaymakers as they set their sights on other European cities.
Amsterdam and Paris both proved more appealing to Britons, according to analysis of popular flight searches compiled by One Sure Insurance.
