The strikes come as workers across the continent are demanding better working conditions and pay.
Though mass walkouts are often announced months ahead, they sometimes occur at the last minute.

So far, several countries across Europe are expecting strikes over February, which are likely to cause disruptions at major transport hubs.
Travellers facing cancellation or delays may be entitled to compensation, with more information on this to be announced by service providers.
Train drivers across Britain announced strikes over February following ongoing disputes over pay, which have failed to increase over the past five years.
The London Overground has announced strikes will take place on 19-20 February, and 4-5 March, RMT has announced.
Germany is expecting travel chaos on February 7th as airline workers for the major airline Lufthansa have been encouraged to walk off the job.
The 27-hour strike, set to start at 4am on Wednesday, could entail a string of cancellations and delays at major airports across Germany, including Dusseldorf, Frankfurt, Munich, Hamburg and Berlin.
The Union Verdi is seeking a pay rise of 12.5 per cent for ground employees or an additional €500 per month.
Lufthansa said in a statement: “Customers who will be affected by an irregularity will receive information about cancellations and rebooking options.”

A seven-month strike notice is expected to hit Ile-de-France as workers will walk off the bus and metro network as CGT-RATP from 5 February to 9 September.
The public transport workers are demanding higher pay and the strikes threaten to affect the Paris 2024 Olympics if an agreement is not reached.
The Olympic Games will take place in Paris from the 26th of July until the 11th of August, with the Paralympic Games scheduled to take place from the 28th of August until the 8th of September.
The Eurostar is offering sales on train tickets for people travelling to Paris for the event.
