Regions such as Valencia have already introduced wearing masks in some circumstances.
This includes people with symptoms in shared spaces, professionals who care for symptomatic cases and people who work in Intensive Care Units and Units with Vulnerable Patients.
Those in hospital and primary care emergencies and in concentrated spaces such as waiting rooms must also wear a mask.
The restrictions are in place from today and could affect Britons in the area.
Valencia has shared concerns as its health service is being pushed and is struggling to cope.
It is facing a rate of illness of 1,500 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.
An official ban has not yet been put in place across Spain but it could be introduced if advice is followed.
