Tbilisi, Georgia is a "picturesque" city with "so much to see and do"

Britons looking to explore a new holiday destination may want to head to Georgia in 2024. The beautiful country is at the intersection of Europe and Asia.

Holiday package operator Holiday Best has recently launched new package holidays to Tbilisi in partnership with Turkish Airlines and Britons can take advantage of this now.

Holiday Best said: "Flights have launched from Manchester, London, Birmingham, and Edinburgh, with holiday packages available to book in time for the Easter holidays.

"Georgia’s capital city, Tbilisi, is a diverse city with a hybrid of influences to create a location that can only be described as 'Georgian'. Once a hidden gem of the Eastern European/Asian continent, Georgia’s picturesque capital city Tbilisi has become a favoured city break and holiday destination.

Holiday Best is offering customers a range of four-star and five-star hotels in Tbilisi so Britons can enjoy a luxury break.

The holiday package operator added: "When it comes to finding the perfect hotel to rest after a day of soaking up the culture, there’s something for everyone."

The five-star Grand Tbilisi Metekhi Palace offers a particularly deluxe hotel experience. Guests can enjoy a rooftop restaurant and bar with "world-class service".

Holiday Best is currently running a deal for seven nights of bed and breakfast at the Metekhi Palace, flying from London Stansted on September 7, 2024. The trip will cost guests £925, including 20kg baggage and private transfers.

"Tbilisi is an incredible city, with so much to see and do, and I’m looking forward to seeing our customers discover the magic of this place that we’ve long known is there."

There is plenty to explore in beautiful Tbilisi. The Old Town (Altstadt), has been given rave reviews by visitors.

One visitor told Tripadvisor: "What a charming city! The Old Town is so special. It shows you the history of the country and makes you enjoy the old architecture of buildings. Loved the food there and discovered a new culture. Thank you Tbilisi for this!"

The Tsminda Sameba Cathedral is another great place to visit. One Tbilisi holidaymaker called it an "amazing place to spend time". They said: "Wonderful visit, majestic building with many visitors as well as worshippers. There are two areas to buy candles if you wish to use them. The views of the city are beautiful."

Britons hoping to visit Georgia should consult GOV.UK for travel advice from the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office as some areas pose a risk. However, these are not the areas included in the package.

Travellers were warned: "For security reasons, FCDO advises against all travel to the breakaway regions of South Ossetia and Abkhazia.

"FCDO also advises against all but essential travel to areas immediately next to the administrative boundary lines with South Ossetia, and areas immediately next to the administrative boundary lines with Abkhazia.

"FCDO cannot provide emergency services to British nationals travelling in South Ossetia and Abkhazia, as British government employees are restricted from travelling there."

The FCDO added that the administrative boundary lines with the breakaway regions of Abkhazia and South Ossetia are generally unmarked and away from roads. The Government department advised: "Take care not to cross the lines. You could be arrested by the region’s self-declared authorities.

"The Georgia and UK Governments do not recognise the unilateral declarations of independence by the breakaway regions of South Ossetia and Abkhazia. Following international law, the Georgian government claims the right to exercise sovereignty in these territories. The UK Government, along with almost all other states, recognises Georgia’s right to do this.

"Consular support is not available in Abkhazia and South Ossetia."

For Britons who are keen to book a holiday this year, a British carrier has been named the "best" airline of 2024. However, holidaymakers were told to "avoid" another.
