Scottish cities have been named the most relaxing places to visit in the UK, according to new research.

Inverness topped the list as the most chilled city destination, with an impressive index score of 60.2.

Dundee secured second place with a score of 58.1, cementing Scotland's dominance in the rankings. Bath emerged as England's highest entry, taking third position with 56.8 points.

The research, by Wowcher, evaluated cities based on several factors including spa bookings, noise and light pollution, traffic levels, population density, walking trails, locals' life satisfaction and quality of green spaces.

Despite its massive population of 8.8 million, London failed to make the top 10, ranking 23rd on the list. However, the capital still offers numerous opportunities for relaxation.

London boasts more green spaces and parks than people may realise. The research noted that the city is "surprisingly green with almost a tree for every person."

This demonstrates that even the busiest urban centres can provide peaceful retreats for those seeking a moment of calm.
