Severe flooding in Italy has prompted the UK Foreign Office to extend its travel warning to Tuscany, where unprecedented rainfall could disrupt British holiday plans.
The weather warning now includes Tuscany following severe flooding in the Emilia Romagna region last week.
The area has been battered by unprecedented rainfall since Monday, causing widespread devastation to agriculture.
British travellers have been urged to exercise caution and stay informed about the evolving situation.

The Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) advised holidaymakers to check with their tour operators before travelling. They should also follow local authorities’ instructions.
The Foreign Office said: “Severe weather and flooding are currently affecting many areas of Italy, particularly Emilia Romagna and Tuscany.
“Rail services and roads may be affected.
“Check with your tour operator accommodation before you travel and follow the instructions of local authorities.”

The flooding has forced more than 1,000 people to evacuate their homes, with two individuals reported missing in Bagnacavallo, near Ravenna.
Eugenio Giani, the regional president, said the area experienced more rainfall in six hours than typically falls in an entire rainy month, marking the most intense weather event on record.
The Foreign Office strongly recommends travelling without insurance. It stated: “If you choose to travel, research your destinations and get appropriate travel insurance.
“Insurance should cover your itinerary, planned activity and expenses in an emergency.”
The FCDO advised that the latest travel advice also covers Vatican City.

Britons in Hungary were also given essential information about heavy rain and flooding, which is affecting one destination in particular.
UK nationals were advised: “Heavy rain and flooding are causing disruption, particularly in Budapest.
“Check before you travel (Budapest public transport, Nationwide, road closure information, coach services).
“Following disruption to international train services to Vienna, services have resumed, but delays and cancellations are still possible. Check before you travel (timetables, Hungary state rail customer service).”
