Paris is a popular holiday destination but could pose some issues for Britons visiting this summer

Britons have been given a travel warning about visiting France this summer.

The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) recently warned holidaymakers about visiting our neighbours across the Channel, with industrial action potentially disrupting their plans this summer.

This comes as Britons receive several travel warnings for popular European destinations.

Holidaymakers were issued an Italy travel warning as holidaymakers could face risk when participating in tourist activities.

Britons were also given a Greece and France travel warning, including a "highly dangerous and unpredictable" threat.

The FCDO warned that disruption due to industrial action could affect holidaymakers the whole summer.

Britons were previously told: "Throughout June, planned industrial action by port workers and air traffic control unions is expected to disrupt some ferry routes and flights across France, with some routes and flights diverted or cancelled.

"Check your operator’s advice before travelling, including where you are taking connecting flights."

The FCDO since warned holidaymakers: "Until September, possible industrial action may cause disruption on the Paris public transport system (RATP). Check the RATP website for live service updates."

Britons were also warned: "Demonstrations, political gatherings, or marches can take place with little or no warning, particularly in cities. Follow the advice of police and local authorities.

"While most demonstrations are peaceful, there is a risk of unrest or violence. If you’re near areas where demonstrations are taking place, stay aware of your surroundings and move away if there are signs of disorder."

The FCDO provides plenty of information on how to stay safe in France, with guidance on terrorism, crime, laws and cultural differences, outdoor activities and adventure tourism, transport risks and extreme weather and natural disasters.

The FCDO recently gave Britons essential information about the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Britons were advised: "The 2024 Olympic Games will take place between July 26 and August 11 and the 2024 Paralympic Games between August 28 and September 8 in France.
