GB News is talking to expats across Europe and the world who have exclusively revealed the best places to live, tips and tricks for moving abroad, and the potential pitfalls to avoid. This week, an expat in Dubai revealed how the hot weather facilitates fun away from alcohol

Dubai is a top choice for expats due to its year-round sun, beautiful landscapes and lavish lifestyle - not to mention its thriving economy, career opportunities and tax benefits.

Cora, a 31-year-old teacher from Scotland, relocated to the UAE city five years ago. Speaking exclusively to GB News, the expat revealed the "best" thing about her move.

"I always knew I wanted to move away," Cora revealed, "but I was going backwards and forwards as to where".

She was initially considering moving to either India or Singapore, but after talking to a friend who fell in love with Dubai, she decided to give the Middle East expat hotspot a go.

She said: "It has a bigger expat community - it's full of Brits and Irish. It's also really easy to get home."

Answering what the "best" thing about living in Dubai is, Cora instantly stated: "The weather."

With Britons experiencing many gloomy, rainy months per year, it is easy to understand why Dubai's climate is so attractive.

The coolest month of the year is January, with an average daily maximum of 25°C and an average low of 14°C.

The hottest month of the year, August, reaches scorching temperatures of 44°C and an average low of 30°C.

Dubai's dreamy weather allows residents to enjoy a plethora of recreation and social activities. A far cry from the UK, plans are never dictated by a sudden downpour of rain.

Cora said: "Everybody here is busy every weekend, everybody is fit and healthy, people are always running.

"In the UK, I'd ask my friends if they wanted to go out and we'd all sit in a pub and be freezing and miserable.

"But here, we go for walks every morning, we go for runs together, we go to gym classes outside, we go to the beach."

Cora explained that she and a lot of her friends have Privilee, a membership which allows you to access the UAE's best beach clubs, hotels and pools.

"It's more of a fun, social way to hang out with people that doesn't solely rely on drinking," she said.

There is a downside to Dubai's scorching temperatures though. Despite air conditioning being the norm - even in homes - some months are still unbearably hot.

Cora admitted that it's "too hot to be here" during the summer - "which is perfect for teachers because we have all of July and August off".

She said: "Everybody's back in the UK - it's literally a ghost town here in Dubai because the heat is horrific. Winter is really nice."
