Although Japan is sometimes overlooked because of its hefty price tags, the city of Osaka is emerging as an attractive alternative for those seeking a more affordable lifestyle.
According to relocation expert Kristin, from the YouTube channel Travelling with Kristin, the city offers comfortable living on a monthly budget of £1,567 to £1,958, including rent, making it significantly more accessible than the capital.
This metropolis encapsulates the charm of traditional Japan with modern amenities while maintaining a cost of living that won't break the bank.

Housing costs in Osaka are particularly appealing to newcomers as one-bedroom apartments in the city centre start from just £509 per month, according to Kristin.
Monthly utilities are equally reasonable, typically ranging between £78 to £86. This represents significant savings compared to Tokyo's notoriously expensive neighbourhoods.
Osaka's reputation as 'the nation's kitchen' is also well-earned as it boasts a diverse culinary scene from street food to Michelin-starred establishments.
Local specialities include Okonomiyaki, a Japanese pancake made with flour, eggs, and shredded cabbage, costing between £4-8.
The culturally significant dish can be customised with various toppings including meat, seafood, or cheese.
“I definitely recommend trying Okonomiyaki if you move to Japan, it is a culturally important dish,” Kristin urged viewers.
“The food scene in Osaka and really most of Japan is a major draw when it comes to living here."
