It's the perfect destination for those who enjoy a scenic wander. She said: "The wide open moorland scenery dotted with little stone villages is just breathtaking.
"On clear days, you feel like you can see forever across the purple heather-covered hills.
"We packed a lot into our short trip - one memorable day included a hike along the coastal cliffs near Robin Hood's Bay, where we spotted seals playing in the surf below."
Robin Hood's Bay is an idyllic fishing village and is home to some great attractions. Visit the Robin Hood's Bay and Fylingdales Museum, then head to Robin Hood's Bay Beach.
For those who want to incorporate a spot of exercise into their staycation, Along the Coast at Robin Hood's Bay is a great hiking trail.
Elaine continued: "Another day we had fun exploring the ruined Rievaulx Abbey, taking in 1,000 years of history."
Visitors should also check out the North York Moors National Park, whether it's for a general meander or one of its many festivals or events.
A trip to the North York Moors can certainly be done on a budget, according to the travel expert. There's also a little something for everyone, catering to all kinds of staycation needs.
