A travel expert spoke exclusively to GB News about the best staycation spot for spring 2024
Staycations were extremely popular during Covid when international travel was ground to a halt.
But many Britons still enjoy the easiness and affordability that come with UK holidays post-pandemic.
A travel expert spoke exclusively to GB News about where Britons should visit this spring, recommending the Isle of Skye in Scotland.
Professional travel photographer and founder and creator of Explore More NC Sarah Murphy said: "I'd recommend the Isle of Skye in Scotland for a spring staycation in 2024. I visited Skye just two years ago and was captivated by its beauty.

The diversity of landscapes is really stunning

"The diversity of landscapes is really stunning - you've got the incredible Cuillin mountain range, mystical glens, rugged coastal cliffs, sandy beaches and crystal clear lochs.
"It's the perfect place for hiking, whether you want an easy coastal stroll or a challenging scramble up a Munro.
"Spring is a great time to visit too as the weather is generally quite mild, though you'll still want layers just in case."
According to the expert, the Isle of Skye provides the best of both worlds. Sarah said: "Skye's proximity as an island off the Scottish coast is part of its appeal too as a staycation spot.
"It feels wonderfully remote and rugged yet is quite accessible from major cities via the Skye Bridge or a short ferry ride."
"I'd thoroughly recommend spending a few days exploring its trails, towns and tasty seafood. The landscapes left a lasting impression and I hope to return someday soon."
According to the expert, it's possible to make a trip to the Isle of Skye very affordable. Sarah said: "General costs will vary depending on your style of travel. A bed and breakfast likely starts at £80-100 per night during peak season (May- September), while self-catered properties may be £150-200 for a whole cottage that can sleep between four to six people.
"A ferry crossing from the mainland ranges from £50-80 per car each way. Food is quite reasonable - you can get fish and chips or a pub meal for under £10-12 each.
"Overall it's comparable in price to other parts of the UK, though you'll save on travel costs versus going abroad."
