Tesco has added helpful instructions to the packaging on its own brand products

Tesco packaging will include air fryer cooking instructions for the first time from today.

This will be seen on a number of own brand food items.

Tesco products Maris Piper Chips with a salt & pepper seasoning, Skinny Fries, BBQ Sweet Potato Wedges and Hasselback Potatoes with a Garlic and Parsley Butter will have the new labels from today.

Tesco own brand frozen chicken will soon be updated, starting with Salt and Chilli Chicken Strips, Southern Fried Chicken Strips and Breaded Chicken Strips.

This will begin the rollout with lots of Tesco products soon seeing the update.

In the future, shoppers will see it on frozen chips, burgers, BBQ products, frozen bakery items and meats.

Chilled produce and frozen and chilled party food are also set to see the update.

Air fryers have soared in popularity in recent years as they can cook food more quickly and use less oils, making them healthier.

It is also one of the cheapest ways to cook food, often using less energy than equivalents such as an oven.

Tesco’s director of product innovation Breige Donaghy said: “We know our customers are enjoying experimenting with their air fryers for family favourites and new recipes.

"Putting specific air fryer cooking instructions on packaging will help them to get the best results, which is why we’re rolling this out across more than 100 Own Brand products.

"There’s also fun and exciting recipes to try on our Real Food page.”

Last week, Tesco shared a huge service update in around 100 stores.

Shoppers will be able to find the right products for their skin care needs more easily.

This comes as Sainsbury's rolled out packaging changes on 27 essential products in UK stores.

Its own brand toilet paper and kitchen roll will now come in packaging that can be fully recycled at home.
