The PlayStation 5 has plummeted to an all-time low on Amazon. The price cut drops the cost from £479.99 down to £409 — that’s a 15% saving on the RRP. Prime members will benefit from next-day deliveryof the latest Sony games console at no extra cost too.
Best of all, the discount has been applied to the newly redesigned PS5, which was only released in the UK on November 29, 2023. Known as the Slim Model, this tweaked PlayStation 5 is 30% smaller than its predecessor.
But despite its slimmer frame, Sony has managed to squeeze an extra 175GB of storage under the bonnet, taking the total to 1TB. Like the original console design, Sony offers a version of the PS5 with and without an optical drive, so you can play game discs and Blu-rays in Ultra HD quality.
Until now, the lowest price for the PS5 Slim Model was £419, so this is £10 cheaper than the previous record.
Confusingly, Amazon still stocks the original PlayStation 5 console and is selling that console for £501, despite it being bulkier and offering 175GB less built-in storage

But beware — Amazon still has some remaining stock of the original PS5 design on its digital shelves and it’s currently being sold for £501. You don't want to add this variant to your shopping basket as it’s currently £92 more expensive, bulkier, and has less internal storage to install games.
The older version of the Sony PS5 is even branded as “Amazon’s Choice,” which makes things even more confusing for shoppers looking to snag the best console.
Trust us, that’s really not the version of the PlayStation 5 that you want to buy, especially not with the record-breaking discount available at the moment.
Amazon isn’t the only place that’s discounted the PlayStation 5 to its new-low of £409.
High street and online retailers including Currys and Very have price-matched the console. Meanwhile, AO.com has cut the cost of the PS5 too, but down to £419.
