If you're subscribed to Sky TV, you're probably aware of the swathe of original boxsets — The White Lotus, Euphoria, Gangs of London, Chernobyl, House of the Dragon — live sports, award-winning documentaries, and blockbusters packed into this set-top box.

But you might not realise that you've also got a comprehensive at-home fitness plan included with your TV package.

Earlier this summer, Sky Stream and Sky Q viewers unlocked the free fitness service, dubbed Mvmnt, which had previously been exclusive to Sky Glass since it first launched in June 2023 alongside the Sky Live camera. Co-developed by Olympic 400-metre runner Tim Benjamin, Mvmnt offers dozens of at-home workouts and competes directly with popular services like Peloton, Apple Fitness+, and Fitbit Premium.

Starting today (November 4, 2024) millions of Sky TV subscribers with Sky Glass, Sky Stream, or Sky Q hardware will unlock access to an entirely new series of workouts designed specifically for those aged 55 and over. Dubbed Age Strong collection, this has been developed to help older adults maintain strength and mobility in later life.

Lock-in our discounted monthly cost for the newest set-top box — Sky Stream. This diddy box arrives with 50 channels not available on Freeview, hundreds of boxsets from HBO, Peacock, and Sky Originals, and a complete Netflix subscription. Unlike Sky Q, High Definition is included as standard. Over the 24-month contract, you'll save at least £144 compared to buying direct from the Sky Store

Mvmnt is accessible from the Apps menu on your Sky device. At launch on Sky Glass, Sky Stream and Sky Q, Mvmnt offered a small selection of its step-by-step workouts and other fitness features at no extra cost — easily one of the best Sky TV deals around. However, that promotion ended earlier this year.

New subscribers will need to subscribe to Mvmnt to unlock all features, including "Personal Programmes", which allows you to schedule a series of workouts in week-by-week programmes to build fitness, strength, or another specific goal. It also bundles "Heart Rate Zone Matching", which connects to your fitness device, like an Apple Watch or Fitbit, and shows live data form the heart-rate monitor to aim for your optimum heart rate during exercises.

This paid subscription costs £7.99 per month and includes 25 new workouts every month, on top of the hundreds of existing sessions in the catalogue of workouts available to all Sky TV viewers.

Mvmnt has launched its Age Strong collection in response to recent research from YouGov that highlighted the exercise challenges faced by many Britons aged over 55.

The study, which spoke to over 2,000 adults across the UK, discovered that 3 in 10 Britons aged 55 and over struggle to exercise at least three times a week due to feeling less fit and able than they used to. This statistic highlights a significant issue of declining activity in older age, suggesting millions of people in this age group may not be meeting NHS-recommended exercise guidelines.

In response, the workouts included in the Age Strong series offer low-impact, beginner-friendly bodyweight strength workouts, each under 20 minutes. Available to Mvmnt users on Sky Glass, Sky Stream and Sky Q devices, these exercises target common health concerns and fitness needs for those over 55, including declining strength, mobility, bone strength and cardiovascular health.

Led by supportive Mvmnt coaches, the workouts aim to increase strength and mobility whilst creating an enjoyable experience to boost endorphins, supporting mental health and cognitive function.

Speaking about the new addition, Director of Fitness at Mvmnt, Rory Knight said: "At Mvmnt, our core belief is that exercise is for everyone. There are countless scientifically-proven physical and mental health benefits associated with remaining active as we age, so we created this collection to ensure that, regardless of age, you can do more of what you love, for longer.

"Whether that be pottering around the garden, playing with your children or grandchildren, or simply being able to get out of bed in the morning with less aches and pains, these workouts will provide you with the physical and mental stimulation required to keep you young at heart. It's never too late to move!"

Mvmnt was originally developed solely for the Sky Live camera accessory. At launch, it offered over 100 interactive classes, which are plotted into six-week courses to help you achieve your fitness goals. The camera enables real-time feedback, so you'll never push too hard when your form isn't correct

The subscription service has expanded to Sky Q and Sky Stream devices, making it accessible to millions more viewers.
