Sky has launched an Easter Egg Hunt for millions of its subscribers, timed to coincide with the bank holiday weekend and the Easter holidays. Available until April 27, the virtual Egg Hunt tasks viewers with finding hidden treats scattered throughout the set-top box software.
If you solve the clues, you can unlock films and TV shows at no cost.
To get started, use the voice command "Easter Egg Hunt" into your remote control after pressing the microphone button. Sky Glass owners can use a hands-free voice command by saying "Hey Sky..." before the request.
Sky Stream has never been this affordable. The broadcaster has just launched an affordable new bundle of channels and on-demand services, dubbed TV Essentials. It includes its plug-and-play Sky Stream box, over 100 live channels including Sky Atlantic — the exclusive home of shows like Game of Thrones, And Just Like That, and The White Lotus. You'll also find a subscription to Netflix and Discovery+ included too and can upgrade to Sky Cinema and Sky Sports at an extra cost.
This will load a dedicated Easter Egg Hunt page on your Sky box. Family-friendly shows and films that have already been unlocked by viewers include Isadora Moon, Knuckles, and Transformers One. New titles will be added throughout the Easter bank holiday, so keep checking back regularly.
Solve an additional three clues to unlock a second carousel of free content on the Easter Egg Hunt.
You'll need a Sky Q, Sky Glass, Sky Glass Gen 2, or Sky Stream to take part. Unfortunately, that means Sky+ HD set-top boxes aren't compatible with this latest promotion.
While Sky+ HD is still supported by the satellite company — unlike its non-HD counterpart, which lost access to all Sky channelslast year — this hardware no longer enjoys the latest software features. Sky signed a new contract to ensure that its boxes that rely on satellite dishes, like Sky+ HD and Sky Q, will continue to work until at least 2029.
But while these ageing set-top boxes aren't going anywhere... we're unlikely to ever see a new version of these satellite dish-dependent TV equipment anytime soon, according to an expert.
According to data shared by Sky, 90% of new customers who join its service now opt for broadband-powered kit, like the best Sky Stream deals. These forgo the satellite dish in favour of a Wi-Fi connection.

These titles are presented side-by-side with on-demand boxsets from Sky TV's own catalogue.
The arrival of the Easter Egg Hunt isn't the only new addition that's rolled out to Sky subscribers in recent days. The UK broadcaster has temporarily rebranded its Sky Hits film channel to Sky Cinema: The Hobbit, which will show Peter Jackson's epic movies based on the material by JRR Tolkien throughout the long weekend.
