Sky Stream and Sky Q viewers have unlocked a free fitness service packed with dozens of at-home workouts. Mvmnt, co-developed by co-developed by Olympic 400-metre runner Tim Benjamin, has been exclusive to Sky Glass since it first launched in June 2023 alongside the Sky Live camera.

The latter is an optional accessory, which costs £290, that attaches magnetically to the top of your Sky Glass television and uses its 4K camera to offer real-time feedback on your movements as follow the exercises on-screen.

Earlier this week, Sky ditched the requirement to use a Sky Live camera with Mvmnt — opening up the free fitness service to millions more viewers with Sky Q and Sky Stream boxes. Yes, that means there's no need to spend the money on Sky Live or upgrade to the all-in-one Smart TV designed by the teams at Sky TV.

You can take advantage of the best Sky Stream deals and still enjoy free workouts with Mvmnt.

Mvmnt, which is accessed from the Apps menu on your Q and Stream box, offers 130 interactive workout classes including pilates, HIIT, and yoga, to name just a few.

Everything is designed to make it as accessible as possible, with Sky reassuring newcomers that "for most workouts you won't need any extra equipment, although we do recommend a yoga mat. On some workouts you'll need dumbbells — it will let you know on the screen."

On-screen coaches guide you through the exercises, which are available at several difficulty levels to cater to those starting out on their fitness journey as well as those who regularly work out.

New classes are continuously added by the team, which is led by Rory Knight – winner of the gong for Men's Health Smartest Coach.

In a recent update, Mvmnt added the ability to synchronise with heart-rate sensors, like chest-worn straps and popular smartwatches, like the Apple Watch. A Mvmnt app on iPhone and Android is also available to download free of charge, so you can continue your regular workouts when you're away from your Sky box.

Of course, Mvmnt has been tweaked to work on Sky Q and Sky Stream hardware without the Sky Live camera. As such, you'll lose real-time feedback on your posture and technique — although that's not something you'll find on rival at-home workout subscriptions, like Peloton and Apple Fitness+.

To celebrate the launch across its complete portfolio of boxes, Sky is offering newcomers to Mvmnt a 45-day free trial to access everything included in the app. You'll be able to set a routine across multiple weeks, watch fitness classes on the big screen on via a smartphone on-the-go, and track your progress.

If you don't cancel during the trial, you'll be charged £7.99 per month to continue using Mvmnt.

If you own a Sky Live camera and Sky Glass, you'll continue to be able to access Mvmnt at no cost. Although, some advanced functionality — like the ability to track heart-rate zones on the big screen from your Apple Watch — will be reserved for Mvmnt Premium subscribers, which comes at an extra cost.

Speaking about the decision to bring Mvmnt to millions of extra viewers across the UK, Olympian and Mvmnt co-founder Tim Benjamin said: "Since our first launch of Mvmnt on Sky Live last year, we’ve been working on a mass market evolution of Mvmnt to be compatible with Sky’s non-camera devices, and bring us a huge step closer to our goal of making quality fitness coaching accessible at home, for everybody.

"This latest launch on Sky Glass, Sky Stream and Sky Q has successfully opened up access to Mvmnt’s unrivalled coaching for millions of people, bringing them a fitness experience that supports and educates them with the coaching they need to make fitness an enjoyable part of everyday home life.

"We’ve adapted some of Mvmnt’s best-loved technology for non-camera Sky devices, including our Practice Area, which allows users to master new movements before diving into a workout."
