Samsung has confirmed when your Galaxy smartphone will be upgraded with its latest feature-packed software update. Dubbed One UI 7.0, the update brings a bold new design and expanded Artificial Intelligence (AI) features to millions of devices worldwide.
Samsung One UI 7.0 will be released on April 7 in the UK, Europe, and Asia. Those living in the United States face a longer wait until April 10, 2025 to get their hands on the exciting new features.
First teased in December, this hotly-anticipated software update has been a long time coming. Galaxy S25, S25+, and Galaxy S25 Ultra were released back in February running One UI 7.0 out of the box, while the Galaxy A36 and A56 launched running that same software a few days ago. But those who haven't bought a new handset since January are still waiting to get their hands on the latest features, new design, and AI tricks.
Samsung will stagger the roll-out of One UI 7.0, with the update initially available for Galaxy S24, S24+, and Galaxy S24 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold 6, and Galaxy Z Flip 6. After a successful roll-out to these devices — launched by Samsung last year — the South Korean firm will gradually expand to other compatible devices.

What's included with One UI 7.0?
The headline feature of One UI 7.0 is the Now Bar.
Comparable to the Dynamic Island included on recent iPhone models, Samsung has placed this pill-shaped widget at the bottom of the screen rather than the top. Now Bar makes live information from inside your applications available at a glance, such as countdown timers, music playback, workouts and more.
These real-time updates can be viewed on the lockscreen. The arrival of the Now Bar on Galaxy smartphones isn't the only addition that will be familiar to iPhone owners.
Now Bar lets you cycle through a range of background processes on your Galaxy handset, with a preview of countdown timers, ongoing workouts, and playback controls for music all available directly from the lockscreen or in the new pill-shaped bubble at the top of the handset during normal use
SAMSUNG PRESS OFFICEOne UI 7.0 redesigned the Quick Panel of settings accessed by swiping down from the top of the screen. Quick Panel, which are now separated for easier access. Toggles for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Cellular Data, Torch, and other commonly-used settings are now housed in translucent bubbles that look very similar to iOS.
Discussing the shift from early iterations of One UI in its release, a spokesperson for Samsung stated: "These feature upgrades are all anchored in a simple, impactful and emotive design.
"Together, these principles shape streamlined and cohesive experiences for Galaxy users. Defined by bold, iconic design choices, One UI 7.0 reduces visual clutter and fosters an inviting experience designed to resonate with users on a personal level and enable intuitive mobile experiences across AI features."
One of the first things you'll notice about One UI 7.0 when the update arrives on your Samsung device is the completely new design, which has overhauled every app icon and menu

Samsung has refreshed the design of its app icons with the option of darker colours and gradient backgrounds, while widgets have been redesigned with more consistent layouts and customisation options. Galaxy owners can also adjust widget shapes, background colour, and transparency to match their preferences on the homescreen.
The Settings menu has been refreshed with a new look with round icons representing each category.
Galaxy AI features are at the forefront of One UI 7.0, with several system-wide features introduced in a bid to enhance productivity. For example, AI Select relies on its smarts to surface prompts based on context — so if you highlight a video clip, it'll showcase actions like saving a video as a GIF file. However, if you highlight a phone number or address, then Samsung's AI will suggest you make a call or navigate using turn-by-turn directions.
Following the update to One UI 7.0, Samsung's clever Writing Assist Tools are available in every corner of the operating system — providing near-instantaneous summaries of text, adjustments to the tone of your text, or bullet points of lengthy PDFs or emails

Writing Assist tools expand to every corner of the operating system. Just select the text you want to adjust, and Galaxy AI will offer to proofread for spelling and grammar mistakes. It can also adjust the tone of your writing — helpful if you need to make an email or cover letter sound more formal, or want to add some fun into your text.
There's no dedicated application, Galaxy AI is an integral part of the operating system, so it can be used across Samsung's own apps — as well as any third-party software that you rely on every day. Galaxy AI can also quickly summarise enormous PDFs, webpages, and reams of text into a quick recap or bullet points.
The update introduces Audio Eraser, a feature that isolates categories of sounds and removes unwanted noise from videos, making advanced editing accessible to all users.
Another notable new addition is the call transcription feature, which automatically converts incoming calls into text, so you can revisit what was said at a later date. The transcription service supports 20 languages, including English, Spanish, German, French, Japanese, Arabic, Chinese, Dutch and Russian.
Since One UI 7.0 is built ontop of Android 15, so includes all of the advances built into the Google-developed operating system.
That includes Theft Detection Lock, which made its debut on Google Pixel devices earlier this year, and uses a combination of sensors inside the handset to detect when a phone has been snatched from the owner’s hand. As soon as this happens, One UI 7.0 15 will lock the screen — preventing thieves from getting into the device.
One UI 7.0 also boasts deeper Google Gemini integration, allowing for more conversational control of devices with support for multi-app actions, so you can chain together multiple commands back-to-back without always having to resort to a fresh request with the "Hey Google" wake phrase.
Using natural language to describe what you want now extends to Settings too, so typing "my eyes hurt" into the search filed will summon settings for screen brightness and blue-light reduction, for example.
One UI 7.0 enables real-time translations on phone calls, so you can have a conversation with someone who speaks a completely different language — with Galaxy AI acting an an intermediary and translating both sides of the conversation

So far, it's only stated that it'll roll out "gradually" after the initial April release.
The Galaxy S25 series, which launched in early February, already comes with One UI 7 pre-installed, so owners of these devices won't need to wait for the update.

Samsung users have been waiting for months for this stable release, with the company facing criticism for the lengthy delay in bringing Android 15 to its devices. In previous years, Samsung typically updated its flagship phones with the latest Android version shortly after Google's release, usually around October.
This time, however, Samsung opted to wait until the Galaxy S25 launch in January before introducing Android 15 and One UI 7.0. The extended development period has allowed Samsung to refine the update, addressing potential bugs and ensuring a smoother experience for users when it finally arrives next month.
