Generous cashback scheme was timed to coincide with the Paris 2024 Olympic Games

With the curtain falling on the closing ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, time is running out to take advantage of the latest offer from Samsung.

Order before August 13 and the South Korean firm will transfer £150 cashback to anyone who treats themselves to one of its latest Android devices, including the Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold 6, and Galaxy Z Flip 6.

But that's not all.

An impressive 1 in 3 of those who upgrade to the latest Galaxy devices will see their cashback reward double to £300. That's a colossal discount on these handsets, which all launched this year. Prices start from £799 for the Galaxy S24. If you're lucky enough to unlock the most generous cashback available, that'll plummet to just £499 — that's the cost of most mid-range Android smartphones.

To be eligible for the cashback scheme, you'll need to purchase one of the above Galaxy devices before the deadline on August 13. You don't need to purchase the handset from the Samsung store, with a slew of different retailers signed up for the cashback scheme, including EE, BT, Argos, Amazon, Currys, John Lewis, Selfridges, ASDA, and InMotion stores you'll find in aeroports — if you happen to be jetting off on your summer holidays.

Once you've bought the Samsung phone, you'll need to head to this webpage and submit a claim.

These claims will need to be made within 30 days of purchase, or you'll miss out. Once the team at Samsung has reviewed and validated the claim, you’ll be sent a confirmation email. This will inform you whether you're getting the £150 payout ...or whether you're one of the lucky ones getting a £300 windfall.

Samsung says you'll be paid the cashback into your specified bank account within 45 days of approval. And that's it. You'll have a brand-new phone and a hefty refund from the South Korean firm.

That makes this easily one of the best Galaxy S24 Ultra dealsand the best Galaxy Z Fold 6 deals we've seen in some time. The limited time promotion is linked to the Paris Olympic Games because Samsung is one of the primary partners of the global sporting event — and has been for years.

If you've been watching the sporting action, you've probably seen the mandatory “victory selfies” captured by athletes on the podium at the Paris Olympics with the Galaxy Z Flip 6, which was unveiled last month. The prominent place for the next-generation flip phone on the podium has sparked a spike in sales of the foldable phone being used to take them, Samsung said.

The company said it saw a 23% spike in Flip 6 sales on July 30, compared with an average day at the Olympics so far, with the day before marking Team GB’s best day for podium placements at the Games so far, which Samsung said could have caused the spike in interest.

Last Monday saw the first flurry of medals for Team GB, including gold in the team eventing and for Tom Pidcock in mountain biking, and silver for Tom Daley and Noah Williams in the men’s 10m synchronised diving.

As well as being used for the victory selfies on the podium, a special Olympic edition of the Z Flip 6 has been given to all of the athletes taking part in the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

James Kitto, vice president and head of the mobile division at Samsung UK and Ireland, said the company was seeing a “continued drive” for foldable phones, and he revealed pre-order figures for a range of the firm’s new phones and wearables were up on last year.

“Just a few short weeks ago we launched a new frontier of Galaxy AI devices, including the Galaxy Z Series of foldable smartphones, a new host of wearable offerings and our smallest form of innovation yet, in the Galaxy Ring,” he said. “We’ve seen a positive start to sales captured within preorder phase, which gives us the confidence our customers are as excited for these devices as we are.

“For our new wearable offerings, which includes the Galaxy Watch Ultra, in the UK we’re seeing an increase in demand year-on-year, up 37%; with health and wellness top of people’s mind as we find ourselves mid-way through the summer of sports with the Olympic and Paralympic Games well under way.

“Our wearables play an integral role in our ecosystem, historically driving both loyalty and attachment rate – over half of our smartphone users own more than one Samsung device, and our data tells us that those customers are also more likely to stay with us.

“We’re also seeing a continued drive for foldables, with Samsung UK taking top spot for Galaxy Z Series sales in Europe. Galaxy Z Fold6 has jumped in popularity by 15%, which demonstrates a local demand for that larger screen experience, accelerated by the unique user cases of Galaxy AI designed specifically for Fold.

“There’s also a positive story for Galaxy Z Flip6, where the 2024 Olympic Edition Z Flip6 can be found in the hands of nearly 17,000 athletes as part of Samsung’s partnership with Olympic and Paralympic Games Paris 2024 contributing to a continued increase in consideration and purchase intent for our unique foldable smartphones.”
