Currys has struck a partnership with Roku to bring the software to its Logik-branded TVs

Roku lets you search for films, TV shows, actors and directors across every streaming service installed on your Smart TV or streaming set-top box — saving you the arduous process of launching and checking every individual app
ROKU PRESS OFFICEPrices start from just £149.99, making these Roku-powered TVs more affordable than Smart TVs powered by Amazon’s rival Fire OS, which start from £239.99 for a 32-inch Fire TV 2-Series designed by Amazon, and £229 for a 43-inch JVC-branded TV powered by Fire OS from Currys.
Speaking about the launch of the six new Smart TV models coming to Currys store shelves in the coming days, Country Manager at Roku UK, Richard Halton said: “Roku is renowned for its seamless smart TV experience, with features that make it easier, faster, and more affordable for consumers to watch what they love, as chosen by more than 75 million households globally.
“Through our partnership with Currys, more customers can select from a range of smart TVs with the Roku OS built-in. And with some exciting sporting events in the calendar this year, now is the perfect time to upgrade your TV setup.”
Firing up a Roku TV, you’ll find the same software that powers its popular range of set-top boxes and streaming dongles. The minimalist homepage sports a row of icons for your favourite streaming and catch-up services, including BBC iPlayer, ITVX, Channel 4, My5, Netflix, YouTube, Disney+, Prime Video, Apple TV+, Paramount+, and more.
Following a software update at the end of last year, Roku will now intelligently recommend new shows and movies based on your tastes. These AI-powered suggestions will carry across streamers, so something that you’ve binge-watched on ITVX could lead to a recommendation film on Netflix.
Unlike Roku streaming players, which are suffering from widespread stock shortages across the UK at the moment, Roku TVs have an integrated Freeview tuner, unlocking access to live television too.
With Roku Search, TV owners will be able to search across all of their streaming apps to find shows and movies available for free or see results ranked by price. This powerful feature means you’ll never accidentally rent something included as part of the streaming catalogue of one of your subscriptions.
Roku TVs support a handful of different input methods – using the included remote control, the digital remote built into the Roku mobile app, or voice control via the app.
