Amazon has secured the rights to 10 live remier League fixtures over the festive period
Amazon will be the only place to watch 10 Premier League matches over the festive period. The shopping brand has been broadcasting live football coverage since the 2019/20 season and that continues with a fresh batch of 10 fixtures this Boxing Day.
In a blow to Sky Sports and TNT Sports, Prime Video is the only place to catch the latest Premier League action. There are two ways to tune-in, you can subscribe to Prime Video as a standalone subscription for £5.99 per month, or it’s also included as a perk with an Amazon Prime membership.
Amazon Prime costs £8.99 per month, or £95 for an annual membership. If you’re not subscribed, you can sign-up for a 30-day free trial to test out all of the benefits at no cost — including all of the Premier League games streaming on Prime Video.
Even if you’ve previously signed up for a free trial, you might still be able to watch for free.
That’s because Amazon allows non-Prime customers to trial the benefits of its membership scheme roughly once per year ...so if it’s been a while, your account could be eligible again. You can check whether you’re able to access Amazon Prime free for 30-days here.
To stream all the Premier League action taking place on Prime Video, you’ll need to download the app on your chosen device. Amazon has dedicated apps for iPhone, iPad, Android phones and tablets, Windows, PlayStation, Xbox, Roku, Apple TV, and a host of Smart TVs, including Samsung, Sony, and Hisense. Once you’ve installed and signed into the app, you can watch live.
Prime Video is preinstalled on Sky Glass, Sky Stream, and Sky Q boxes, as well as the redesigned EE TV, Virgin Media Stream and Virgin TV 360 hardware.
Since everything on Prime Video is streamed via your broadband connection, you’ll need a decent internet connection to watch the action without any frustrating buffering, stutters, or outages.
Amazon recommends a minimum download speed of 1Mbps for Standard Definition, but that increases to 5Mbps for 1080p High Definition (HD) quality streams. "Prime Video will serve the highest quality streaming experience possible based on the bandwidth speed available,” Amazon says.
In the latest nationwide survey by industry regulator Ofcom, the average UK home broadband speed was clocked at roughly 69.4Mbps— plenty to watch the Premier League action in HD. But if you’restruggling with slower internet, then fingers crossed, the latest announcement from BT-owned Openreach will improve things for you.

If sport isn’t your bag ... there are plenty of other series and films to watch on Prime Video. The streamer is packed with a mix of syndicated shows, like Fargo, The Handmaid's Tale, and Mr Robot, alongside all-new TV shows commissioned by Prime Video that you won't find anywhere else.
That includes The Marvellous Mrs. Maisel from the duo behind The Gilmore Girls, sports documentary All Or Nothing: Manchester City, superhero satire The Boys, prequel series (and widely-believed to be the most expensive television show ever made) Lord of the Rings: The Rings Of Power, and Clarkson's Farm from the ex-Top Gearfrontman, Jeremy Clarkson.
Prime Video is also home to a slew of original films, including Academy Award winner Everything Everywhere All At Once, Borat: Subsequent Moviefilm, and The Green Knight to name just a few.
If you want to catch every fixture in the 2023/24 season of the Premier League, as well as a well-timed 30-day free trial to Prime Video, you’ll also need a subscription to Sky Sports and TNT Sports (née BT Sports).
