After the relatively unknown DeepSeek wiped $1trillion off company valuations, GB News asks its members if they are worried about the rise of Chinese AI.

A staggering 91 per cent of respondents expressed concern about the rise of Chinese AI, with only nine per cent of the 678 voting members not having a problem with Beijing muscling in on Silicon Valley.

A number of US tech giants suffered significant losses as the stock market plummeted yesterday morning.

American moguls have compared the rise of Chinese AI firms to Cold War era competition from the Soviet Union.

Silicon Valley venture capitalist and Donald Trump adviser Marc Andreessen described DeepSeek-R1 as "AI's Sputnik moment", a reference to the satellite launched by the Soviet Union in 1957.

Trump separately said that DeepSeek should be a “wake-up call for our industries that we need to be laser-focused on competing to win”.
