Fortunately, there's still some stock elsewhere

Meta Quest 2 is now on sale for £199 — a colossal discount compared to its original launch price of £299.

The Quest 2 was reduced to £249 at the start of the beginning of the year to create a clear divide between it and the newer Quest 3 VR headset, which launched towards the end of 2023 with a price tag of £479.99.

During the recent Amazon Spring Deal Days sale, the Meta Quest 2 was discounted down to £199 for the first time — making the VR gadget £30 cheaper than its previous all-time low of £229.99. That discount has proven to be massively popular, with the Meta Quest 2 headset now unavailable from Amazon UK.

The blockbuster sale has proven to be such a big-seller, that Amazon is now only selling Meta Quest 2 headsets from its second-hand marketplace, with prices much higher than other UK retailers

While there is limited second-hand stock available via Amazon Marketplace, Meta itself is not shipping brand-new versions of the popular VR headset for £199 via the online retailer

The good news? Other UK high street and online stores have price-matched the £199 sale on the Meta Quest 2 and still have stock available.

Currys and Argos offer same-day pick-up (provided Meta Quest 2 is in stock in your local branch) so that could be the quickest way to walk away with this popular VR headset.

John Lewis & Partners still has some stock available too, with a two-year warranty on all electricals — that's a year longer than even Meta itself, who makes the headset, will give you!

O2 has reduced its Meta Quest 2 headset to the same £199 price tag, but offers a monthly payment plan at 0% APR. Prices start from £4.72 per month for a 36-month plan with a £30 upfront cost. EE offers the Meta Quest 2 for £18 per month, which totals just £198 — the lowest price you'll find anywhere

Meta Quest 2 is comfortably the most affordable way to test the latest Virtual Reality (VR) games and applications. The Quest 2 headset builds on the pioneering Oculus Quest headset acquired by Mark Zuckerberg's Meta company back 2014 for $2 billion.

Although this headset has been superseded by the Quest 3, you'll still be able to play hit games like Beat Sabre, Resident Evil 4 VR, Iron Man VR, and Superhot VR.

Meta Quest 2 boasts higher resolution screens, 90Hz refresh rate, faster processor, and hand tracking — something that wasn't possible with earlier versions of the headset, née Oculus

You can also sync the headset with your PC or Mac using a Remote Desktop application and get some work done on a cinema-like screen anywhere, with nobody around you able to see what you're working on for true privacy.

Whether you fancy escaping to a private cinema room inside the VR headset, improving your fitness with some of the health-focused applications and games, working on documents from your PC on IMAX-like screens, or playing the latest VR games with friends on the other side of the planet ...or treating someone in your family to immersive VR experiences, this is an affordable way to get into this emerging technology.
