With discounts on trade-in and free Kindle Unlimited subscriptions, it's a bumper time to become a Kindle owner

First it was Fire TV Sticks, now Amazon wants you to send outdated Kindle devices back to its warehouses.

Returning a Kindle will unlock a generous 20% discount across all new eReader models. Best of all? This trade-in discount can be combined existing Amazon sales — like the one taking place on select Kindle models now.

For a limited time, Amazon is offering 27% off the flagship Kindle Scribe. Combined with the trade-in offer, you can unlock a maximum saving of 47% — almost half price.

And the discounts don't end there.

If you act now, you can secure a two-month subscription to Kindle Unlimited for free — allowing you to download and read millions of best-selling fiction and non-fiction books, audiobooks, and magazines. Like a Netflix-for-books, Amazon regularly refreshes the catalogue of bestsellers, up-and-coming novels, and non-fiction reads.

If you don't already own a substantial library of digital books, this is a great way to load up your new Kindle with thousands of books you've been meaning to get around to reading.

Cancel anytime and you won't be charged a thing — although you'll no longer be able to access any unfinished Kindle books at the end of the trial period. Usually £9.49 per month, the latest offer is open to anyone, not just those who have purchased a new Kindle.

Don't own a Kindle device? No worries.

Amazon makes it possible to access the millions of free books bundled as part of Kindle Unlimited, everything is available on your iPhone, iPad, Android phone, PC, or tablet using the Kindle app.

You can switch between any of these gadgets — handy if you find yourself with a wait but you've left your tablet at home — with reading progress synchronised between all of your devices.

Cancel anytime during the two-month trial period and you'll be charged nothing from the online retailer.

Kindle Unlimited is one of the priciest subscriptions available from Amazon, costing £9.49 per month. In comparison, Prime Video — which competes with Disney+ and Netflix — costs just £5.99 per month.

But that hefty price tag is what makes this latest giveaway such an incredible deal.

The latest generation of Kindle eReaders ship equipped with a 300 pixels-per-inch touchscreen e-ink screen, which offers sharper text than the printed page. Amazon has also added a dark mode feature to its software, allowing you to read comfortably indoors and outdoors — any time of the day.

When it's time to recharge, the latest line-up of Kindle eReaders rely on USB Type-C, that's the same charging cable used on the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro, new MacBook models, Nintendo Switch, and all Android smartphones from the last few years. That means you'll be able to travel with a single cable.

Prices for the newest Kindle models start from £84.99, although that'll drop by £16.99 if you trade-in an existing Kindle eReader during the checkout process.

Amazon's Kindle line-up maxes-out with the all-singing, all-dancing Kindle Scribe, which doubles-up as a digital notepad — allowing you to take handwritten notes, as well as annotate books, PDFs, and emails threads. At 10.2-inches, this model has the largest screen of any Kindle eReader.
