Eero has beaten broadband suppliers like BT and Sky to launch a Wi-Fi 7 router

  • All-new Eero 7 and Eero Pro 7 will release on February 26 in the UK
  • Preorders for these upgraded Wi-Fi 7 routers are now open on Amazon
  • Future-proof Wi-Fi 7 is more reliable and offers faster download speeds
  • First Wi-Fi 7 device from Eero cost £599.99 each
  • These new models are much cheaper
  • Amazon has branded these devices its 'most affordable Wi-Fi 7 router'

If you're paying for a speedy full-fibre broadband connection... but you're struggling with dire wireless speeds at home, it might be time to upgrade to a brand-new router. Amazon has unveiled a pair of brand-new Wi-Fi 7 routers that promise to unleash this next-generation technology at an "affordable" price tag.

As it stands, EE is the only nationwide broadband that offers a Wi-Fi 7 router. It's included with the fastest 1.6Gbps full-fibre broadband plans by default ...or comes with an extra £10 fee each month. Vodafone is rumoured to be hard at work on its response to the EE router, but until that arrives, you'll need to shop for a Wi-Fi router elsewhere to unleash the latest wireless technologies around your home.

And that's where the brand-new Eero 7 and Eero Pro 7 come in.

Be one of the first to own Eero 7 and unleash Wi-Fi 7 speeds at home

Amazon will launch its most affordable Wi-Fi 7 routers to date on February 26. If you want to be one of the first to own this cutting-edge Wi-Fi kit, preorders are already open. Eero 7 is available in a single-pack, two-pack for £279.99, or triple-pack for a gargantuan 560m² of coverage for £349.99. Eero routers will work with any full-fibre broadband connection in the UK, although you'll want to make sure you've got fast enough speeds coming from your provider to justify the purchase

These aren't the first Wi-Fi 7 routers developed by the team at Eero, which Amazon acquired for an eye-watering $97 million back in 2019, that honour goes to the Eero Max 7 launched last year at £599.99. The more affordable Eero 7 (£169.99) and Eero Pro 7 (£299.99) are designed to make this technology more accessible and ensure more homeowners are able to take advantage of its perks.

For those who want the latest Wi-Fi speed and performance in their home, Eero has refreshed its lineup with Wi-Fi 7 support at a lower price tag than many of its closest competitors

Speaking about the launch, Amazon Devices Vice President Eric Saarnio said: "For ten years, eero has obsessed over delivering exceptional wifi because we know it is as important as our electricity and running water.

"We've continued to innovate and have gone well beyond our first home mesh wifi system — there are tens of millions of eero devices that power homes and businesses across 24 countries. Today, I’m excited for the Eero 7 and Eero Pro 7 to join the Max 7 and expand our Wi-Fi 7 portfolio in Europe to meet every internet need."

Both of these are available to preorder on Amazon now, with the new devices starting to ship from February 26.

For those who don't know, Wi-Fi 7 is a significant upgrade over previous wireless standards.

It unlocks much faster data transfer speeds, thanks to its ability to combine multiple frequency bands together. Eero 7 delivers wireless speeds up to 1.8 Gbps — matching the maxed-out broadband speed available natiownide in the UK today — and wired speeds up to 2.3 Gbps through its two 2.5 GbE ports.

Not fast enough for you? Eero Pro 7 increases the maximum wireless speed up to 3.9Gbps and wired speeds up to 4.7 Gbps through its two 5 GbE ports.

These vast speeds will be handy if you're downloading a mammoth file, like the latest blockbuster game for your PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X. However, it's not just about speedy downloads on a single device... it's also helpful in households with dozens of devices.

More bandwidth means multiple people trying to stream video at the same time, downloading software updates, making video calls, or performing a backup to the cloud shouldn't notice a significant slowdown.

With more of us adding dozens of different devices — from video doorbells to smart lightbulbs — Wi-Fi 7 will only become more helpful over time. Amazon says a single Eero 7 Pro can handle up to 200 connected devices.

A mesh Wi-Fi network works by placing multiple nodes throughout your home to provide better coverage. It also maintains signal strength through brick walls and outdoors in a garden

Both the Eero 7 and Eero Pro 7 boast the same range, with a single unit covering up to 190m².

Since Eero is a mesh network, you can dot multiple nodes throughout your home to expand the range of your Wi-Fi network — devices will automatically connect to the nearest node, or the one with the most capacity. With two of these new Eero 7 devices, your Wi-Fi network will be expanded to cover 380m², and a triple-pack extends coverage even further to a whopping 560m².

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS

The Eero 7 is priced at £169.99 for a single unit, £279.99 for a two-pack, and £349.99 for a three-pack. Meanwhile, the Eero Pro 7 costs £299.99 for one unit, with a three-pack available for £699.99.

These new devices are compatible with all previous generations of the mesh Wi-Fi system, so you can connect either an Eero 7 or Eero Pro 7 to your existing set-up at your home.
