The security guard apparently wore a hood to hide the symbol at his job interview

A security staff member at the World Athletics Championships has reportedly been fired after being spotted with a Nazi symbol tattooed on the back of his neck.

Photos of the guard went viral earlier in the week.

The pictures show the staff member at the Budapest Stadium in Hungary, facing towards the action.

This exposed his neck with an SS tattoo clearly visible. According to atv.hu, the photo was taken on the first day of this year's competition.

Bild add that, currently, no further information is known about the individual.

He was, however, dismissed from his role shortly after the picture was taken and then posted for the eyes of the world to see.

Valton Security, who hired the guard, claimed he had worn a hood during his interview for his post - which is why he slipped through the net.

This meant his whole neck, including the SS tattoo, wasn't visible to the firm.

They have, however, now acted accordingly.

The SS lightning strikes were the official emblem for the Schutzstaffel, a major organisation founded by Adolf Hitler and the Nazi Party in 1925.

SS soldiers even acted as personal bodyguards for Hitler and his generals prior to being dissolved in 1945, with the symbol forbidden in Germany.

The SS were also tasked with leading the worldwide genocide of approximately six million Jewish people during the Holocaust.

It is currently unclear if the man in question will be punished by law for the tattoo on the back of his neck.
