A sports commentator has claimed "you can't script tennis" after star Emma Raducanu faced a furious backlash for pulling out of a doubles tournament at Wimbledon.
Speaking to GB News Ben Jacobs said: "Players have to take precautions if they're carrying an injury, but it was also the scheduling and the load of ultimately playing singles and mixed doubles.
"I think Murray would have probably made the same decision if he was building up to a singles match with a chance to reach the quarterfinals versus mixed doubles, and you're worried about your own physique and stamina, then you have to pick one or the other.
"So I do sympathize with Raducanu but I can understand why the British public may be disappointed because they've been denied an Andy Murray farewell."
