The Princess of Wales has been a patron of the All England Club since 2016.

Wimbledon will reportedly turn to the Duchess of Gloucester to present trophies this weekend should the Princess of Wales be unable to attend.

Princess Kate has made just one public appearance since revealing in March that she was being treated for cancer.

That appearance came at the 'Trooping the Colour' ceremony on June 15 where she was seen smiling and waving from the Buckingham Palace balcony.

But it's still unknown whether the Princess will attend Wimbledon this year.

Kate's parents, Carole and Michael, attended the British slam in the first week of the tournament.

The Royal Family has a close affinity with the All England Club which began over a century ago back in 1907.

Princess Kate is the latest member of the royal family to have continued the long tradition of being at the trophy ceremonies on the final weekend of Wimbledon.

She's been a patron of the All England Club since 2016 and has attended Wimbledon every year since her wedding to Prince William in 2011 - apart from 2013 when she was pregnant with Prince George.

But the Telegraph claim the All England Club will turn to Duchess of Gloucester to present this year's trophies if Kate is unavailable.

A final decision is yet to be made as the All England Club are prepared to wait until the morning of each final.

They want to give Kate as much time as possible to make a final decision, but the Duchess of Gloucester is reportedly ready to step in.

The 78-year-old is a huge tennis fan herself and has been Honorary President of the Lawn Tennis Association for over two decades.

All England Club chair Debbie Jevans said on the eve of this year's Championships that they would leave the final decision down to Kate.

"We're hopeful that the Princess of Wales will be able to present the trophies as the Club's patron, but her health and recovery is the priority," Jevans said.

"We don't know what we don't know.

"All we've said is that we'll work with her and give her as much flexibility as possible."

The Duchess of Gloucester is married to Queen Elizabeth's first cousin, Prince Richard.

She has already attended Wimbledon twice this year since the tournament started on July 1.
