Karolina Muchova was forced into going to the toilet several times in her recent US Open clash

Karolina Muchova apologised to the US Open crowd after being forced to use the toilet several times during her quarter-final clash.

She beat Beatriz Haddad Maia 6-1 6-4 but the game was halted many times by both players.

Muchova had to leave the court for several toilet breaks while Maia had injury troubles.

The Czech star took off despite being in a winning position but she was not keen to go into too much details over why.

"Little weird match I have to say," she said on court after confirming the victory.

"I had a little problems I wouldn’t like to comment on it actually if it’s fine.

"But I’m happy to manage it with some run to the bathroom and back."

Adding a chuckle, she told the crowd: "Sorry if it disturbed anyone but I had no other choice!"

Despite her toilet woes, Muchova still went on to claim the victory to book herself a spot in the semi-finals for a second year in a row.

On that occasion, she lost to Coco Gauff, who would go on to win the US Open in 2023.

However, injuries hit the 28-year-old soon after and she was ruled out for 10 months after a wrist injury.
