Jack Draper was being put through his paces in a gruelling US Open match

Jack Draper vomited on the court during his US Open semi-final against Jannik Sinner amid a gruelling encounter.

The Briton even got a towel and cleaned it up, which prompted the chair umpire to intervene and ask if he needed some time to get himself back together.

But Draper was keen to carry on midway through the second set, with the game already nudging into over two hours.

While it was courageous of the 22-year-old to try and force himself to play through his stomach troubles, he might have been better off taking the short break.

That is because Sinner showed no remorse and went on to claim the subsequent point - and the game in the process.

It was actually the second time that Draper had vomited in the contest while he had been drenched in sweat throughout the match.

Neither player was giving each other an inch, though, trading games and putting their bodies through the grinder in the process.

After a remarkable rally that saw Sinner fall over, the Italian got back up to sent a rocket down the court and win the point.

But he might have injured himself in the process, hurting his wrist and requiring medical attention.

As for Draper, he took advantage of the short break by getting plenty of fluids down him in a bid to settle his stomach.

He also requested a change of shoes for the second time in the match but had none in his kit bag.

It required a court attendant to rush to his locker and find a third pair of trainers for the British No.1 to wear.

Speaking on Sky Sports, British legend Tim Henman said: "Sometimes when it's humid, as it obviously is with all the sweat, you can almost drink too much water and it sits in your stomach.

"I think that's twice that Draper has vomited."
