Emma Raducanu will concentrate on her training over the next few weeks instead

Emma Raducanu has withdrawn from representing Great Britain in the Billie Jean King Cup next week.

The 22-year-old has opted instead to undertake a training block of several weeks.

Raducanu was due to play for Great Britain in their upcoming matches against Germany and the Netherlands.

Last month, she was named in the five-player squad alongside Katie Boulter, Sonay Kartal, Harriet Dart and Olivia Nicholls.

Her replacement in the Great Britain squad is yet to be confirmed, with an announcement likely to be made next week.

The decision comes after an impressive run at the Miami Open, where Raducanu reached the quarter-finals before losing to eventual runner-up Jessica Pegula.

Her team explained that she has had a taxing few months with only one week away from events.

This period away from competition will allow her to focus on training after a busy schedule.

The former US Open champion's withdrawal means she will miss the double-header in Holland where Great Britain were set to face both Germany and the Netherlands.

The BJK Cup matches would have been another opportunity for Raducanu to build on her positive displays in 2025 so far.

While Raducanu's immediate return date has not been confirmed, she is expected to feature at next month's French Open.

The uncertainty surrounding her schedule follows what her team described as a demanding period in her calendar.

Her decision to prioritise training rather than national team duties reflects a focus on long-term development.

This approach may help Raducanu maintain the momentum she has built during her positive performances in 2025.

The French Open will provide her with an opportunity to test herself on the clay courts of Roland Garros.

Fans will be eager to see if her training block translates into continued success at Grand Slam level.
