Emma Raducanu was knocked out of Wimbledon on Sunday by New Zealand qualifier Lulu Sun.

Emma Raducanu has claimed she wasn't aware of Judy Murray's response online to her withdrawing from mixed doubles at Wimbledon and feels the 64-year-old 'didn't mean it'.

The 21-year-old was set to play in mixed doubles alongside Andy Murray on Saturday, but she pulled out on the morning of their scheduled match due to 'stiffness' in her wrist.

As a result, Murray's Wimbledon career came to an abrupt end as he wasn't able to bring in a replacement.

Raducanu had booked her place in the fourth round of Wimbledon the previous day with a stunning victory over No 9 seed Maria Sakkari.

With Raducanu and Murray originally scheduled last on Court One, she would have potentially still been playing late into the night ahead of her fourth-round tie on Sunday.

The news of Raducanu's withdrawal on Saturday caused a frenzy online, which only grew when Judy Murray bluntly replied to one message, "Yes, astonishing."

She later attempted to play down her initial remarks as 'sarcasm' and pointed the finger at the All England Club as the real reason for Raducanu's withdrawal.

“Pretty sure the scheduling (4th match court 1 with a singles following day) will have played a major part in any decision making," she said.

Raducanu was asked about the remarks from Judy Murray following her defeat to Sun on Sunday.

When questioned whether she was 'surprised by Judy Murray's reaction on Twitter', Raducanu said: "I haven't seen her reaction, so I don't know."

The reporter then added: "She was being sarcastic on social media from a very emotional perspective when you had to pull out of the mixed doubles."

Raducanu replied: "What was she sarcastic?"

She was then told: "Said it was astonishing."

And the exchange ended with Raducanu attempting to brush off the ordeal, adding: "I'm sure she didn't mean it."

Raducanu went on to explain she had no regrets over the whole situation given how her wrist felt on Saturday morning.

She said: "I think going into the tournament, I wasn't expecting to make fourth round. So for me it was a no-brainer. I would have loved to have played.

"He didn't ask me, If you're still in the singles, are you going to play? That was never a question to be answered.

"Given how I woke up yesterday morning, it was for me a no-brainer."
