The pair are currently in Florida as they aim to go deep at the Miami Open

Carlos Alcaraz has responded to Andy Murray after the former British No 1 posted his delight at watching the world No 2 at the Miami Open.

Alcaraz is aiming to win the tournament for a second time in his career and got off to a convincing start against fellow Spaniard Roberto Carballes Baena.

Murray is through to the third round after he completed a win over Tomas Martin Etcheverry on Saturday following persistent rain in Florida.

The match started on Friday and Murray saw through the victory in straight sets to win two matches at a tournament for the first time in 2024.

Alcaraz entered the tournament in the round of 64 and didn't begin his campaign until after Murray had already won his second match.

Murray kicked back and relaxed by watching the 20-year-old put on a show for the crowd at the Hard Rock Stadium.

Alcaraz is widely tipped to be the next generational star and has already won two Grand Slam titles.

During the match against Carballes Baena, Murray took to social media to show his true feelings on Alcaraz.

The 36-year-old wrote on X: "Watching Alcaraz play tennis makes me smile."

Alcaraz responded a few hours later, replying: "Andy!! THANKS MAN!"

He was also told about Murray's comment when speaking to the media after his comprehensive win.

Alcaraz admits it is 'crazy' for players such as Murray to speak so highly of him at this point in his career.

He said: "Well, it's great. As I say many times, I play for myself, I play for my team.

"But also I enjoy if the people enjoy watching my matches, my games. For me, it's pretty cool.

"I think for me it's even better if a legend like Andy says something like this, that he enjoys a lot watching my matches.

"It's crazy for me, honestly. I think he has seen a lot of tennis during his career, a lot of matches, a lot of players.

"Seeing these words from him for me is great. It's something I try to do it in every match."

Murray this week said that the bounce on the courts in Miami is much lower than at Indian Wells last week.

Alcaraz agrees, saying: "Yeah, Indian Wells it was much higher. Probably the court is faster, but the ball goes slower. Yeah, that's different.

"The balls become bigger after just one game. Is crazy. New balls go super-fast, then after one game super slow.

"It was difficult to adapt in that way. But, yeah, the first game, it's crazy, then it's super slow."

Murray faces Czech star Tomas Machac in the third round on Sunday evening.

Alcaraz has been drawn against Gael Monfils, with their clash set for Monday afternoon.
