Kyren Wilson won the German Masters after a dramatic 10-9 victory over Barry Hawkins

World champion Kyren Wilson clinched a dramatic 10-9 victory over Barry Hawkins in the German Masters final at Berlin's Tempodrom, bouncing back from his recent Masters final defeat to Shaun Murphy.

The tense encounter saw Wilson edge past world number 12 Hawkins in a deciding frame, where he compiled a decisive break of 59 to secure the title.

"I felt like we both could have probably played better but I felt like it was a really good dramatic final, it had a little bit of everything, a couple of misses, a couple of really good breaks," Wilson said during the trophy presentation.

Wilson's triumph came despite battling equipment issues throughout the match, as he revealed problems with a loose ferrule on his cue at crucial moments.

"When I played in off the red my cue tinged. I'd had the problem with it at the world championships before. I felt like if I tightened it, it would be okay. But every now and then it would come loose," Wilson explained.

The world champion refused to let the technical difficulties derail his performance.

"I had to put it out of my mind. I was playing such a class player in Barry that you can't allow any negative thoughts to come into your head," he added.

Hawkins had initially taken control of the match, leading 5-4 after the opening session.

Wilson responded by claiming three of the next four frames, including a break of 125, to edge ahead.

The match remained finely balanced at 7-7 after Hawkins levelled with a century of his own.

With the score at 8-8, Hawkins produced what Wilson described as an extraordinary clearance.

"The clearance Barry made, we laughed about it as we went to the toilet. I've never seen such a good shot when he's doubled the red, landed on the black," Wilson recalled.

After sharing the next two frames, Wilson sealed victory following a re-rack in the decider.

The victory held special significance for Wilson, coming in a tournament now named after Brandon Parker, who previously managed both finalists.

"The trophy is now named after our previous manager in Brandon Parker so I felt like whoever was going to win today it was going to be really fitting because he worked with both of us," Wilson said.

The world champion expressed his satisfaction at claiming the title that now bears his former manager's name.

"I mentioned it at the start of the week, the trophy is now named after both of our previous manager, Brandon Parker. So I felt like whoever was going to win it would've been really fitting," he added.
