It was the moment everybody was waiting for on Sunday. As the Super Bowl kicked off, millions around the world were waiting to see whether Travis Kelce's Kansas City Chiefs would do the three-peat and whether the 35-year-old would then get down on one knee and propose to pop star Taylor Swift.
Unfortunately for the duo, however, the stars didn't align - with some fans, especially Swifties, left devastated.
Prior to the clash, Kelce was outright asked if he was planning to ask Swift to be his wife.
He fuelled speculation by initially responding: "Wouldn't you like to know?"

Not a no, then. Not a mind your own business, not a dismissal. When asked about a ring, he then added: "A Super Bowl ring? Next question."
As for his father, Ed Kelce, he too refused to give anything away.
“I think we get past the Super Bowl, I think it’s going to be a very good time for the two of them without the NFL season, without the Eras tour, just them alone really connecting more," he said.

"I think that can only be a good thing."
When asked about a potential proposal, he added: “Did you really think I was going to come up with that?"
Some reports even went as far to say that Kelce was planning on popping the question with a ring worth a staggering $12million and that he 'didn't want to fumble' the big moment.

Swift has been a regular at Chiefs matches since her relationship with Kelce first started back in 2023. In fact, her presence has coincided with the team flying - having won the Super Bowl in each of the past two years.
On Sunday, however, the dream of the three-peat came crashing down as the Philadelphia Eagles won the prize for the second time in their history - with the first triumph coming back in 2018.
It was a horror night for Kelce. He struggled, his team-mates toiled and coach Andy Reid had no answer as the Eagles ran riot in New Orleans.

But the dream isn't dead yet. After all, with Kelce and Swift happily loved up, fans are still hopeful that, one day, they'll become husband and wife.
It was a difficult evening for Swift, too. The pop star, sat next to Ice Spice, was dramatically booed by the crowd as her face appeared on the big screen.
Swift looked besumed - and many of her fans were too. However, having worn Eagles gear in the past, before now cheering on the Chiefs, perhaps she should have expected her hostile reception.

The singer was mocked by Donald Trump after the game, with the US president relishing the chance to stick the knife in. He had, in the past, criticised her for endorsing Kamala Harris. The word 'hate' was used, too.
For now, Kelce has decided to park any potential postponement.
However, with Swift consoling her other half following his heartbreaking defeat, they look set to stay together. And that means the big question could be asked soon, even if Sunday would have been the perfect stage and setting.
