Rory McIlroy completed an historic Grand Slam by winning The Masters last week

Travis Kelce has revealed he nearly changed his weekend plans to attend the final round of The Masters in person to witness Rory McIlroy's dramatic playoff victory.

The Kansas City Chiefs star made the admission on the "New Heights" podcast he hosts with his brother Jason.

McIlroy claimed his first Green Jacket on Sunday after a decade-long major drought, capturing the attention of fans worldwide, including the Kelce brothers.

"The whole time I was thinking, 'Oh man, am I going to go to the Masters on Sunday?'" Travis said on the podcast. "Am I going to find a way to get down there to watch this epic ending?"

Travis was captivated by the tournament's dramatic swings in momentum.

"It was electric," he enthused. "Bryson making a f***ing run on Saturday, and then Justin Rose just trying to hold on, and Rory just going up and down all week, and then just skyrocketing."

The NFL star was particularly impressed by McIlroy's achievement of a career Grand Slam.

"Shoutout to Rory, how about that. A career Grand Slam, there's only been five of them before," Travis added.

Both Kelce brothers are known to be avid golfers themselves, having participated in several celebrity tournaments over the years.

Jason Kelce admitted he had a personal stake in McIlroy's victory.

"I was rooting for Rory going into it, I actually had money on Rory and I'm very happy about this," Jason revealed. "I'm not a big gambler, but I did have some small wagers on him."

The elder Kelce brother described the final day as particularly nerve-wracking.

"Dude the last day, that might be the most I've sweated watching golf in my life," he said.

Travis described the tournament as "an emotional rollercoaster for everyone".

He expressed disbelief at McIlroy's major drought, saying: "Dude, it had been over 10 years since my dawg has won a f***ing major. How crazy is that?"
