The singer is open to the possibility - but only once her other half retires from the NFL

Taylor Swift will not perform at the Super Bowl halftime show until her boyfriend Travis Kelce retires from the NFL, according to reports.

The decision comes amid growing calls for Swift to headline the prestigious show, following Kendrick Lamar's controversial performance in New Orleans earlier this month.

Swift, who has been dating Kelce for nearly two years, has specific reasons for delaying what would be one of the most anticipated halftime shows in recent history.

A source close to the situation told the Daily Mail: 'When she eventually performs at it, she wants all her loved ones to be able to experience it.'

The same source highlighted the potential conflict, noting that 'as long as Travis is in the league, the Chiefs have a chance to be in the game, so she is going to wait to do it till he is officially done.'

Prior to her relationship with Kelce, Swift's absence from the Super Bowl stage was linked to sponsorship conflicts.

'If Pepsi wasn't the sponsor of the halftime show for so many years, then Taylor Swift would have potentially already been the performer,' revealed the source.

This was due to Swift's long-standing partnership with Coca-Cola, making any Pepsi-sponsored performance impossible.

Beyond sponsorship issues, the singer's packed schedule also prevented her from taking on the prestigious performance slot.

Now, with Pepsi no longer sponsoring the event since 2022, the only barrier remaining is Kelce's active NFL career.

Kelce, 35, has recently acknowledged he is considering retirement after 13 seasons in the NFL, citing 'wear and tear' on his body and mind.

The Chiefs star is, however, reportedly 'leaning more' towards continuing his career, with a final decision expected before summer training camp.

The NFL and Jay-Z's Roc Nation, who oversee the halftime show, are reportedly ready to welcome Swift whenever she chooses to perform.

'Taylor is and always will be considered,' the source said. 'And if she wants to do it, she will get the gig.'

Swift is reportedly among a select few artists who could secure the spot without requiring Jay-Z's full endorsement.

The next Super Bowl, LX, will be held at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California, followed by Inglewood in 2027 and Atlanta in 2028.

Swift's ultimate dream is to headline the halftime show in Nashville, where her journey to stardom began in her early teens.

However, performing outside of Tennessee would not be a 'deal breaker' for the singer.

Should Kelce continue playing beyond this season, Swift would likely target either the Inglewood or Atlanta Super Bowl for her eventual halftime show debut.
