Patrick Mahomes had an off night on the biggest stage as he chased his fourth Super Bowl ring.

A rampant Philadelphia Eagles side demolished the Kansas City Chiefs in the first half of Super Bowl LIX and some fans fear Patrick Mahomes suffered a concussion early in the game.

The three-time Super Bowl champion was sacked a total of four times in the first half and was clearly far from his best with the Chiefs failing to score.

He completed just six of his 14 passes for only 33 yards and two interceptions.

But there was an incident in the opening stages that some fans are convinced hampered Mahomes on the night.

The Chiefs were at 3rd and 9 in the first drive of the Super Bowl when Mahomes struggled to get the ball in the air.

Kansas City's defence collapsed as Mahomes looped out of the pocket to try and avoid the onrushing Eagles.

The Chiefs quarterback eventually managed to release the ball just as Jalen Carter tackled him to the ground.

Mahomes' head hit the ground hard as he fell to the ground, although he was able to get back to his feet immediately.

Despite returning to his feet, fans have speculated that the incident played a huge factor in Mahomes' subsequent performance.

One fan speculated: "Mahomes is not ok. Somebody oughta check him for a concussion. Because he is not seeing the field AT ALL."

Another asked: "Does Patrick Mahomes have a concussion because what is he doing?"

A third posted: "Someone should check and see if mahomes has a concussion."

One other message read: "Seems that Mahomes took a hit and is going through a mild concussion."

Another demanded: "They need to check Mahomes for a concussion."
