The cycling legend shared the heartbreaking news that he has stage four prostate cancer this month

Sir Chris Hoy has revealed that he will be leaving the United Kingdom alongside his family after he announced that he had terminal cancer.

The Olympics legend announced that his prostate cancer has reached stage four, while also revealing that his wife Sarra has been diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis.

The heartbreaking news also means that Hoy has 'two to four years' left as he also revealed his greatest fear was his children finding out at school from their classmates.

Speaking to The Sunday Times, the six-time Olympic gold medallist said: "I saw your daddy on the news last night and he's going to die."

To protect his children, Hoy also revealed that he and his wife would take his children away over half-term to shield them from the media storm.

"Hopefully the dust will have settled" he said. "You know what? It may happen. If it does, we will deal with it."

While Hoy revealed that they have informed their two children about his cancer diagnosis, they have yet to speak about Sarra's MS condition.

In his book All That Matters, with excerpts provided to The Times, Hoy wrote: "Another scan just before Christmas confirmed that Sarra had 'very active and aggressive' MS and needed urgent treatment.

"It's the closest I've come to, like, you know, why me? Just, what? What's going on here?
